Development of Intumescent Flame Retardant for Polypropylene: Bio-epoxy Resin Microencapsulated Ammonium-polyphosphate

چکیده

As polypropylene (PP) has no charring ability on its own due to the lack of hydroxyl functional groups, flame retardant system needs addition carbonizing agent in a relatively great amount. Ammonium-polyphosphate (APP), conventional additive was modified by microencapsulation with sorbitol-based bioepoxy resin shell create an intumescent enhanced for PP. The efficiency microencapsulated additive, which contains all components needed effective system, evaluated PP matrix at different loadings. When compared physical mixture component, microencapsuated form APP (MCAPP) found have improved LOI values MCAPP containing samples increased 8–11 V/V% besides achieved V-0 classification according UL94 test. During cone calorimeter tests, burning intensity reduced (peak heat release rate decreased 20–35% and shifted time), amount charred residue obtained, based calculated Flame Retardancy Index (FRI) “Excellent” fire performance when used. is attributed interaction between core readily available shell, promoted formation char accompanied protecting barrier efficiency.

Flame Retardant Luffa Fiber Reinforced Composites with Epoxy Resin Matrices

In current years composites have concerned considerable importance as a potential operational material. Low cost, light weights, high specific modulus, renewability, and biodegradability are the most basic & common attractive features of composites that make them useful for industrial applications. Luffacylindrical locally called as “sponge-gourd” is one such natural resource whose potential as...

Synthesis and application in polypropylene of a novel of phosphorus-containing intumescent flame retardant.

A novel phosphorus-containing triazine oligomer poly(2-morpholinyl-4-penta-erythritol phosphate-1,3,5-triazine) (PMPT) was synthesized as a kind of tri-component intumescent flame retardant (IFR). The chemical structure of PMPT was characterized by FTIR, 1H-NMR and 31P-NMR, and the mechanical and flammability properties of FR-PP were measured. The FTIR results showed that the expected chemical ...

The Smoke Suppression Effect of Copper Oxideon the Epoxy Resin/Intumescent Flame Retardant/Titanate Couple Agent System

Fire disaster is the major factor to endanger the public and environmental safety. People lost their life during fire disaster mainly be attributed to the dense smoke and toxic gas under combustion, which hinder the escape of people and the rescue of firefighters under fire disaster. The smoke suppression effect of several transitional metals oxide on the epoxy resin treated with intumescent fl...

A review of flame retardant polypropylene fibres

Flame retardants for polypropylene (PP) and their potential suitability for use in fibre applications are reviewed. Five principal types of generic flame retardant systems for inclusion in polypropylene fibres have been identified as phosphoruscontaining, halogen-containing, silicon-containing, metal hydrate and oxide and the more recently developed nanocomposite flame retardant formulations. T...

Ammonium Polyphosphate/Melamine Cyanurate Synergetic Flame Retardant System for Use in Papermaking

A new synergetic flame retardant system (SFRS) using ammonium polyphosphate/melamine cyanurate (APP/MCA) core-shell particle was synthesized and applied to papermaking. Cationic polyacrylamide (CPAM) was added to improve the adsorption of SFRS in pulp. Higher amounts of SFRS led to higher adsorption by pulp. Handsheets were produced with different amounts of SFRS. Thermal gravimetric analysis (...
